What does it really mean to learn a new language?
These days, at the Migrant Integration Center Brașov, 50 mentor–mentee pairs from the Language Buddy programme are discovering that learning a language means much more than vocabulary and grammar: it means connection, confidence, and belonging.
In a friendly and open environment, young people are learning together to:
• speak Romanian in real-life contexts
• understand the local culture beyond words
• overcome barriers and the emotions of a new beginning
• build authentic relationships
Language Buddy is not only about language learning, but also about finding your place within a community. We thank the students and the migrant and refugee youth from Brașov for their involvement and commitment!
The Language Buddy Programme, co-financed by the European Union through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), promotes intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and Romanian language learning among young migrants aged 12 to 17, through support provided by student mentors.
